The NFL is reportedly putting the sponsorship rights to the Super Bowl halftime show on the market.
CNBC reported the NFL is planning for the move as its deal with sponsor PepsiCo (PEP) - Get PepsiCo, Inc. Report is expiring after the 2022 Super Bowl. PepsiCo has been the official sponsor of the halftime show since 2013.
Super Bowl commercials have become a cultural phenomenon due to the extreme popularity of the show.
2015’s Super Bowl halftime show starring Katy Perry is the most watched halftime show with a TV audience of 118.5 million.
Similarly, 2020’s Super Bowl halftime show starring Shakira and Jennifer Lopez is YouTube’s most viewed Super Bowl halftime show.
