Summer is disappearing quickly and fall is greeting us at the door! Temperatures took a dip in the New York Tri-State Region today and if you're like me, you no doubt reached for a sweatshirt as you stepped outside!

Having a tough time embracing fall? That's o.k. you're not alone. So, here are a few cocktails that keep summer lasting just a little bit longer.

Quintessential Wall Street

While many people presume the quintessential Wall Street cocktail is either the martini or scotch the younger generation is experimenting more with the other brown liquors, like bourbon and rye, says Erin Ward, Corporate Beverage Director and National Buyer at Alicart Restaurant Group, which includes Carmine's and Virgil's Real BBQ.

So Ward, again, created a cocktail for us. This time she focused on that "Rye Whiskey trend," that she is loving.

New Fashioned Wall Streeter

In a mixing glass add 2 Brandied Cherries, 1 tsp Brown Raw Sugar, 1 Dash Peychaud Bitters. Ok, now muddle! Next add: 2.5 Ounces Woodford Rye Whiskey, ½ Ounce Dows 10 year Tawny Port

Fill glass with ice stir until your glass is completely chilled. Now strain over a large chunk of ice in a rocks glass. Garnish With a large orange twist & brandied cherry. Now, enjoy

Skip the Bar! A Rum Drink You Can Make In Your Kitchen!


Rum is the liquor that conjures up images of vacation, tropical beaches, surf, sun & let's face it good times! So, why not experience those feelings while you're barbecue in your backyard this Sunday?

A little bit about the history. Rum's origin traces back to India and China, where the first fermented drinks made form sugarcane originated. The drink then spread throughout the world until it surged in popularity in colonial America in the 1600s. Click here for more on its history and 10 Rum recipes!

Classic Spanish Sangria

Sangria is primarily a wine drink, but the classic Spanish sangria contains rum, so we're stretching the rules a little and including it on this list because sangria is delicious. To make this party pleaser, you'll need 1 lemon, 1 lime, 1 orange, 1 1/2 cups rum, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 bottle (750 milliliters) dry red wine and 1 cup orange juice.

Chill the fruit, rum, wine and orange juice before making the drink. Slice the three fruits into thin, round pieces and place them in a large pitcher. Pour the rum and sugar over the fruit and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for two hours. When ready to serve, mash the fruit lightly with a wooden spoon or other instrument. Mix in the wine and orange juice. Taste the drink and add more sugar if necessary. This one is a real winner and is being served up tonight!

Cocktail Inspired by 'Bees on Sixth"

Almost exactly one year ago, the New York Hilton (HLT) Midtown unveiled 450,000 honeybees and six new rooftop beehives, also known as the "Bees on Sixth" in celebration of September's National Honey Month. The 300 pounds of honey that will be harvested annually will be incorporated into the restaurant's dishes and themed drinks.

The New York Hilton Midtown's Director of Culinary and Executive Chef Richard Brown was kind enough to share one such honey infused cocktail.

Honey-Kissed Grapefruit Cosmopolitan

This recipe couldn't be simpler! Here's what you need 1 3/4 oz Grapefruit Vodka, 1 1/4 oz Cranberry Juice, 1 oz Honey, Muddled Lime and Rosemary.

In a cocktail shaker, muddle lime, honey, and fresh rosemary. Next add ice, one shot of grapefruit vodka and cranberry juice. Shake vigorously until you can hear the ice begin to melt. Strain into a martini glass, garnish with a rosemary twig and enjoy!
