NEW YORK (
saw a boost in sales in April, as the fast-food chain saw strength both at home and overseas.
Comparable sales climbed 4.9% worldwide, and rose 3.8% in the U.S. Same-store sales increased 5.3% in Europe and 3.9% in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
Analysts expected global sales to grow 4.1% during the month.
Shares of McDonald's are advancing 3% to $69.75 in pre-market trading.
