Whole Foods Market is about to get another boost from its parent.

Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) - Get Report announced Monday, June 25, it will roll out nationwide a 10% discount for Prime members on both sale items and exclusive deals at Whole Foods, starting Wednesday, June 27.

This is the latest way Amazon has attempted to kick-start its grocery acquisition.

It was in June 2017 that Amazon shook up the grocery space with its purchase of the Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Market for $13.7 billion. Two months later, the online retailer announced it will begin lowering prices at Whole Foods stores across the country. Amazon spent the first half of 2018 expanding its Prime Now two-hour delivery service to include groceries from Whole Foods. Deliveries are now available in 14 cities, with Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia and Richmond added on June 12. Amazon plans on making the service available in more cities throughout the year.

To receive the discount, Prime members need only download the Whole Foods Market app or enter their mobile phone number at checkout in a store.

"Since launching Prime savings at Whole Foods Market, we've seen excitement and momentum from both Prime members and our supplier partners," said A.C. Gallo, president and COO at Whole Foods Market. "Our weekly Prime member deals are a hit, and we're excited that Prime members across the U.S. will now be able to take advantage of these savings in our stores."
