Halloween is overrated for anyone who is no longer a child. Hear me out. You're surrounded by overgrown adults vainly trying to recreate their lost youth, with barely-there costumes and enough pumpkin beer to warrant swearing off an autumn variety pack until next October. This is amateur hour for people who don't usually allow themselves to let loose. Be wary of your surroundings and anyone in a sad Suicide Squad Joker costume.
Know when to call it quits on everything from the extra spooky company happy hour to the candy dish. Instead of wasting your precious allotted calories on something other than empty sugar, go for the following "candy" that actually has some R.O.I.
My white knight of nighttime are these Melatonin gummies. These beautiful gummies don't knock you out, but rather soothe you into a restful slumber that leaves you refreshed and raring to go in the morning. It says on the bottle you should use them for jet lag, but I pop them after overly intense Netflix binges.
My doctor kind of hates me, but loves that I take gummy vitamins. He tells me they actually absorb faster, because you chew and are more likely to take them. You can get a variety pack based on your gender or whatever vitamin deficiency you've been blessed with.
Packable coffee cubes that are convenient for traveling and when you can't find the wherewithal to suck down a mug of brew. At 70 calories for two cubes, they can't compare to the 5 calories of conventional, unsweetened coffee, but they do in a pinch (and actually work).
Not feeling the gummy consistency? You can chomp down chocolate-flavored or caramel-flavored vitamin chews, so it's like you're fooling yourself into taking something that actually isn't detrimental to your health.
If you're going to eat conventional candy, make sure it packs a punch. Soaking gummies in liquor not only gets rid of that excess, less-than-palatable alcohol you have sitting around but makes for a fun party snack. Simply let Halloween-inspired gummies sit in vodka for 24 hours at room temperature, drain and serve. You can do a ton of different variations of liquors and gummies as well.
