Google  (GOOGL) - Get Free Report postponed its return to the office for its workers until October 18. As the new delta variant has caused a spike in COVID-19 infection rates, the tech giant reportedly made that announcement to its employees on Wednesday.

This announcement comes as President Joe Biden is expected to release vaccine guidelines for federal government employees on Thursday.

On the other hand, once the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic, New York State, is mandating all state employees to get vaccinated or get tested regularly. Governor Andrew Cuomo said the program will be implemented by Labor Day.

“We need dramatic action to get control of this situation," Cuomo said. "We want to make sure that those healthcare workers are vaccinated. Period.”

New York State is also requiring patient-facing healthcare workers at state hospitals to get vaccinated.

Cuomo’s decision came a day after the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reversed its indoor mask policy. On Tuesday, the agency recommended that even fully vaccinated people should wear masks indoors in areas of high COVID-19 transmission.
