Biden to Meet With Business Leaders to Discuss Vaccine Mandates

U.S. President Joe Biden is reportedly meeting top business leaders to discuss the vaccine mandate on Wednesday. Microsoft  (MSFT) - Get Free Report President Brad Smith, Disney  (DIS) - Get Free Report CEO Bob Chapek, and Walgreens  (WBA) - Get Free Report CEO Roz Brewer are some of the big names attending the meeting.

Earlier, the Biden administration announced new rules that required companies with over 100 employees to require either vaccination or weekly Covid testing.

"We’re going to protect vaccinated workers from unvaccinated co-workers. We’re going to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by increasing the share of the workforce that is vaccinated in businesses all across America," said President Biden. 

Biden also mandated the Covid vaccine for federal workers and contractors. 

To combat the ongoing Delta surge, many private companies have also mandated their employees for vaccination and extended work-from-home policy.

On September 9, Microsoft indefinitely postponed the return to its offices in the U.S.

“Given the uncertainty of COVID-19, we’ve decided against attempting to forecast a new date for a full reopening of our U.S. worksites,” Microsoft's Corporate Vice President Jared Spataro wrote in a blog post.

The U.S. is currently averaging 170,000 new COVID daily cases.
