Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to play for Manchester United, the club where he previously spent six years (2003-2009). The English Club released a statement confirming the deal on Friday.
"Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa, and medical," the club said in a statement.
This 37-year-old, who made a fortune by playing at Old Trafford at the age of 18, is reportedly being roped in from the Italian club Juventus over €20 million.
Needless to say, Ronaldo’s main source of income is the salary from his club. His base salary in Juventus was $70 million per year.
Besides playing on the field, he has also expanded his wealth portfolio by endorsing various brands.
In 2016, Ronaldo made headlines when he signed a “lifetime” deal with Nike (NKE) - Get Free Report for over $1 billion. He was the third athlete to sign a "lifetime deal" with Nike after NBA players Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
Ronaldo also makes a lot of money with his social media posts. He is actually Instagram’s highest-paid star in 2021. With 333 million followers, he charges around $1.6 million per post.
