responded to a batch of fresh questions.
Here are a few of those questions and Fitzpatrick's answers.
Do you prefer simple or exponential moving averages?
I use the simple moving average for the middle Bollinger Band(typically the 20-period simple moving average). I'll sometimes zoom out to a50-period simple moving average.
What alternative energy stock's chart looks interesting in the short term?
In addition to
, I'd take a good, hard look at
MEMC Electronic Materials
In Wednesday trading, shares of First Solar closed at $107.63 (down 21.8% for the day) and shares of MEMC Electronic Materials closed at $14.53 (up 1.85% for the day).
When it comes to underlying technical indicators, do you prefer to specialize in one... or use multiple indicators?
I really get a lot out of using Bollinger Bands.
Would you initiate a position in the SPDR Gold Trust on this pull back or would you wait forit to touch 91?
I would buy some at the 50-day moving average. But I wouldn't want to be a trailblazer here -- I'd wait for evidence of buying.
Been watching Sohu.com here since earnings. Thoughts?
I like SOHU. I think it works right here, right now! And I'd keep a stop just below the 50-day moving average.
In Wednesday trading, shares of Sohu.com closed at $49.38 (up 3.76% for the day).
iShares MSCI Brazil Index blew down through the 50-day exponential moving average, just bounced off lower Bollinger Band. Still think it goes to test resistance at 40, or will it get blocked with new resistance at 35.75?
I see today's
Feb. 24 action as marking the latest bottom. But I think that the bulls will have a very tough time running EWZ up to test $40 on this move.
