Walgreen Gobbles Up Rival Drugstores - TheStreet

is adding 25 new stores to its portfolio with the acquisition of Snyder's Drug Stores is Minnesota.

Walgreen said it plans to continue to operate some of the locations; with regards to other locations, it will buy the prescription files and transfer them to local Walgreens' pharmacies.

Walgreen did not disclose how much it will pay for Snyder's.

Shares of Walgreen are nearly flat in morning trading, exchanging hands at $36.70.
