losers Tuesday, sinking 11% after the energy services company cut its 2006 earnings forecast.

The company now sees full-year earnings of $2.80 to $3.20 a share, down from an earlier view that called for earnings at the high end of $3.20 to $3.70 a share. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call project earnings of $3.43 a share. "The main reason for the revised guidance is lower production volumes caused by both third party pipeline shut-ins and production management integration following the closing of the acquisition of Remington Oil and Gas," the company said. Shares recently were down $3.27 to $28.04.

Alliance Data Systems

rose 2% after the provider of financial transaction services boosted its stock buyback plan by $600 million. The program extends the company's two previous buyback plans, which authorized the purchase of $300 million. "As we continue to execute our long-term growth strategy, returning a portion of available funds to our stockholders makes good sense, and is especially compelling at current valuation levels," the company said. Shares were adding $1 to $55.94.

Shares of

Pepsi Bottling Group

( PBG) fell 6% after the distributor of Pepsi products posted in-line third-quarter earnings but issued full-year earnings guidance below expectations. For the period ended Sept. 9, the company posted earnings of $207 million, or 86 cents a share, on revenue of $3.46 billion. The results included a one-time gain of 5 cents a share related to income tax law changes. Analysts expected earnings of 81 cents a share, with revenue of $3.41 billion. During the year-earlier period, the company earned $205 million, or 82 cents a share, on revenue of $3.21 billion. Those earnings included a one-time legal settlement gain of 4 cents a share.

For the full year, Pepsi Bottling sees adjusted earnings of $1.85 to $1.88 a share. Analysts, on average, project earnings of $1.90 a share. Shares were trading down $1.97 to $33.26.

slid 3% after the apparel and footwear company announced the departure of its footwear division vice president. Brad Gebhard resigned so that he could pursue other opportunities, the company said. Mick McCormick, vice president of sales, will head the footwear division on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is found. Citigroup downgraded the stock to hold from buy following the news, saying that Gebhard helped improve the footwear category at the company. Shares were trading down $1.74 to $54.06.

Wesco International

rose 6% after the construction materials provider agreed to acquire Communications Supply Holdings from private equity firm Harvest Partners for an undisclosed amount. The acquired company is expected to post 2006 revenue of about $600 million, up from 2005 revenue of $431 million. The acquisition, which is expected to close in early November, will be immediately accretive to Wesco's earnings. Communications Supply will add 4 cents a share to earnings in 2006 and 35 cents to 40 cents a share during 2007, Wesco said. The company's shares were up $3.26 to $60.17.
