The company said revenue rose 13.5% to $162 million for the quarter, and same-store sales were up roughly 3.5%. California Pizza Kitchen had forecast a comp sales increase of 2% to 3% and earnings of 3 cents to 4 cents.

was gaining 6.9% to $54.93 after it said its fiscal first-quarter earnings rose to $305.5 million, or 69 cents a share, from $109 million, or 25 cents a share, a year earlier. Analysts were looking for 58 cents in the latest quarter.

Sales for the first quarter soared 55% to $2 billion. Mosaic said prices for phosphates remain strong and prices for potash have increased, "which should result in very strong earnings and cash flow for the remainder of fiscal 2008."
