agreed to acquire Amici LLC, a privately held company that provides document and data production and storage for law firms, for $174 million.
Amici, based in Albany, N.Y., is involved in what's called electronic discovery, that is, the identification and management of data from paper, email, databases and spreadsheets. The company also provides consulting and professional services for attorneys.
The company was founded in 2002 and currently employs about 125 people. Xerox, based in Stamford, Conn., said the all-cash purchase also includes a performance-based supplement to the sale price. The acquisition should close in the next 30 days.
Shares of Xerox, a maker of copiers and printers, were adding 12 cents to $13.40 Wednesday.
