Domestic sales for
stayed flat in the four weeks ended Aug. 9, compared with the same period last year, but international sales rose and benefited from the weakened U.S. dollar.
The owner of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC said Thursday that domestic sales at stores open at least one year are unchanged so far in the third quarter. Sales increases of 2% at Taco Bell and Pizza Hut were offset by a 4% drop at KFC.
However, sales abroad jumped 7% prior to being converted into dollars, and 13% after conversion, adding Yum! to the list of U.S. firms benefiting from the recent drop in the dollar.
Shares of Yum! were up 19 cents, or 0.7%, to $29.61.
