While the service will give its users the ability to stream over 100,000 movies, TV shows and provide access to their UltraViolet locker, there are some limitations with the app's roll out.
Chiefly among those is that if users wish to buy or rent new movies or shows they must do so through a web browser.
The reason the Vudu app doesn't offer its users the ability to make purchases could be because Walmart does not want to be susceptible to Apple's distribution services, which would cost the retail giant 30% of each penny earned, Apple blog Cult of Mac said.
Shares of both Apple and Walmart were rising in midday trading on Tuesday.
