VF Hitches Up Guidance

The jeans company cites a strong outdoors performance.

VF (VFC) - Get V.F. Corporation Report beat third-quarter targets and raised guidance.

The Greensboro, N.C., jeans company made $198 million, or $1.75 a share, for the quarter ended last month, up from the year-ago $180 million, or $1.57 a share. Revenue rose to $2.03 billion from $1.82 billion a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial were looking for a $1.67-a-share profit on sales of $1.96 billion.

Outdoor revenue rose 25% from a year ago to $659 million, while jeans, sportswear and imagewear revenue rose 6%.

The company said it expects to make $5.05 for the year on revenue of $7 billion. Analysts were looking for $5 on $6.96 billion.
