U.S. Adds 148,000 Jobs in September
The U.S. work force adds 148,000 jobs in September; the unemployment rate is 7.2%.
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- The U.S. work force added 148,000 jobs in September, the Labor Department said Tuesday.
The unemployment rate fell to 7.2% from 7.3% the previous month.
Payrolls were expected by economists to have risen by 180,000 jobs in September, according to a Reuters survey of economists. The unemployment rate was forecast to remain at 7.3%.
Tuesday's jobs report comes more than two weeks after it was originally scheduled because of the partial government shutdown earlier in October.
