United Natural Foods
missed Wall Street's fourth-quarter sales target and guided below the consensus for 2007.
The Dayville, Conn., organic food distributor made $12.7 million, or 30 cents a share, for the quarter ended July 31, up from the year-ago $11.8 million, or 28 cents a share. Revenue rose 14% from a year ago to $619.8 million.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial were looking for a 30-cent profit on sales of $632 million.
For fiscal 2007, United Natural expects to make $1.25 to $1.30 a share on sales of $2.7 billion to $2.8 billion. Analysts were looking for a $1.32-a-share profit on sales of $2.82 billion.
