Toyota (TM) - Get Toyota Motor Corporation Report is turning to open source Linux software to power the infotainment system in its latest Camry sedan as the Japanese car maker looks to get ahead of burgeoning competition from tech companies like Apple (AAPL) - Get Apple Inc. Report and Alphabet (GOOGL) - Get Alphabet Inc. Report

The Automotive Grade Linux system will allow Toyota to update the software as it sees fit as well as keep customer data away from Apple's Carplay and Alphabet's Android Auto systems which can access user data as they sync with the car's infotainment system.
