Toyota  (TM) - Get Report announced the recall of 250,000 2016 and 2017 model Tacoma trucks globally, including 228,000 vehicles in the U.S. to fix a defect that could leak oil and potentially cause crashes.

The company said that the oil leak could result in the rear wheels locking up and drivers losing control of their vehicle.

Owners of the trucks will be notified of the recall via mail starting in mid-June. In the meantime, truck owners can go to dealers who will inspect the trucks for leaks.
