Cheap as chips: Beam Inc's Jacob's Ghost White Bourbon Whiskey

A "Silver" winner in the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) in 2013, this whiskey is aged one year and is ideal with soda or straight up on the rocks.

Cheap as chips: Sazerac Company's Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Another IWSC "Silver" winner, this Kentucky-based distillery produces whiskey with hints of vanilla, mint and molasses.

A 750mL bottle will set you back $24.99.

For a few bucks more: Beam Inc's Jim Beam Black Bourbon Whiskey

Aged eight years, this whiskey had the honor of taking the "Gold Outstanding" rank in the IWSC this year. The judges remark on the "toffee, gentle vanilla and some molasses giving sensation of slow, deliberate flow across the palate."

For a few bucks more: Spirit of Hven Backafallsbyn's Seven Stars No. 1 Dubhe Single Malt Whiskey

The "Gold"-winning treat, distilled in Sweden, boasts liquorice and malty notes. As the IWSC judges note, this liquor has a "full nose with sugar, fruit and light caramel."

A 500mL bottle can be purchased for $152.50.

Another "Gold Outstanding" winner, this Irish whiskey possesses a "sweet fragrant nose with ripe peach and pear."

It doesn't come cheap though. A 750mL retails for $294.99.
