Time Warner's (TWX) Time Inc. named Rick Stengel managing editor of its flagship newsweekly Time.
The move comes a day after Stengel's predecessor, Jim Kelly, was promoted to managing editor of Time Inc.
Stengel's appointment is effective June 15, though he will work alongside Kelly during a transition period prior to that, Time said.
Stengel, 51, was a senior writer and essayist as well as editor of Time.com. He was former Sen. Bill Bradley's chief speechwriter when Bradley made a run for the presidency in 2000.
ended up choosing an insider for the job, though rumors had been circulating that media bigwigs, including Tina Brown and Adam Moss, were being considered for the post.
