Hollywood is turning to horror for ticket sales this Halloween weekend.
"Jigsaw," the story of a psycho who likes to torture his victims in elaborate ways, is expected to take the top spot this weekend. The film follows the story of the villain from the popular "Saw" horror films, giving him a standalone project.
Expectations are that "Jigsaw" will debut in the high teens to low $20 million range, according to Box Office Mojo.
"Jigsaw" is distributed by Lions Gate Films (LGF.A) , whose class A shares have risen about 1% year to date.
Lions Gate could end up with the top two performing movies this weekend as last week's box office winner "Tyler Perry's Boo 2" goes into its second weekend in theaters. Expectations are that the film brings in another $10 million, bringing its two-week total to about $35 million.
