BTIG analysts said in a research note Wednesday that they observed price increases ranging from 4% to 5.5%, depending on the menu item.
Chipotle deployed the change in markets such as San Diego, Denver, Arlington, Virginia, and Columbus, Ohio. In Columbus, the price of a steak burrito went to $7.85 from $7.50 and in Arlington, the same burrito now costs $8.15, up from $7.80, according to BTIG.
"The last price increase in these markets was the national price increase taken in May/June 2014," BTIG analysts said in the note. "Meaning these markets have not had any pricing for close to two years as Chipotle didn't take pricing as sales were recovering from the food safety issues of late 2015."
