NEW YORK ( TheStreet) - For the first time in 11 years, Mattel's (MAT) - Get Report Barbie is the loser of a critical popularity contest.

One in five parents plan on buying their daughters Disney's (DIS) - Get ReportFrozen dolls and associated toys for the holidays this year while about one in six said they planned on buying Barbie products, according to a National Retail Federation survey.

"Barbie has been the top girls' toy for over a decade, but it is no surprise that Disney's Frozen has taken the top seat as children have had it on the mind as far back as Halloween," said Pam Goodfellow, consumer insights director at Prosper Insights and Analytics, the research firm that conducted the NRF survey.

Don't let your daughters be the only ones without this year's hottest toys. Click through the slideshow and see what other parents are buying them this holiday season. And when you're done, be sure to check out what parents plan to buy for boys this holiday season.
