NEW YORK (

TheStreet

) -- Oh, if only Tiger Woods had the new iPhone app called TigerText as he was texting all those alleged mistresses.

Then again, if Tiger Woods

had

been able to utilize TigerText, then there would have been no Tiger Woods scandal, and TigerText, therefore, would not have existed.

This is starting to sound like the plot of

Lost

.

Regardless, in what may ultimately prove to be the strangest legacy of the Tiger Woods sex scandal, a new iPhone application called TigerText has been released, providing texters total control over the lifespan of any text they send. Designed for

Apple's

iPhone, TigerText will soon be available for Blackberry and Droid, too.

Granted, you don't

have

to be a philandering professional athlete to find the technology useful. The TigerText application -- available through tigertext.com -- allows a texters to set an expiration date for their message's lifespan. Set the lifespan for 4 hours, say, and a message sent at 2 p.m. will be deleted at 6 p.m. from your phone, the recipient's phone and TigerText's server -- regardless of whether the recipient opened and read the message.

TigerText is free for the first 100 messages sent over a 15-day period. After that, the user pays $1.49 for every 250 messages sent each month or $2.49 a month for unlimited messages.

According to the

Associated Press

, Tiger is home now, after a weeklong family counseling trip to Arizona and is attempting to train for a return to golf. Presumably, Tiger is no longer sending texts that read "Send me something very naughty" to cocktail waitresses, who then helpfully forward them on to

Us Weekly

.

Then again, with this new app, he just might be.
