Did Elon Musk Just Open the Door to Hacked Tesla Model 3s?
Tesla (TSLA) - Get Report CEO Elon Musk dropped a key piece of information as it pertains to the electric carmaker's future, moving all driver information to a cloud network.
"We are going to move all info and settings to the 'cloud' (aka server) so any Tesla you drive in the world automatically adjusts to you," Musk said on Twitter (TWTR) - Get Report yesterday.
The cloud could be used to load data related to seating and steering wheel placements, map settings, automotive controls including breaking and temperature control, according to Engadget.
That said, as with anything kept and stored on a cloud computing platform the driver profiles would be susceptible to cyberattacks.
Shares of Tesla were lower nearly 4% to $333.85 in afternoon trading on Monday.
