Taser

(TASR)

said an Arizona court dismissed a lawsuit against the company alleging wrongful death, negligent infliction of emotional distress and product liability.

The company said the dismissal prevents the plaintiff from refiling any claim against it.

Taser has been something of an obsession for the mainstream media in recent months. Detractors have repeatedly questioned the safety of its products, while the company has maintained that it sells a tool to law enforcement that saves lives.

"We are very pleased that the court ordered the dismissal of Taser International with prejudice from this litigation," the company said in a press release. "Our ongoing strategy is to never settle these baseless claims, and we will continue to aggressively defend this type of frivolous litigation."

Shares of Taser were gaining 8% to $9.12 in premarket trading Friday.
