Target Expands Next-Day Delivery Program
Target (TGT) - Get Report announced on Thursday that it is expanding its Target Restock program, the next-day delivery service for "essentials," to consumers in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C.
The service delivers items including paper towels, snacks, and personal care products to customers a day after they are ordered.
Customers just have to visit Target's Restock website, choose from over 15,000 items, and place their order by 2:00 p.m Monday through Friday. They can then expect their delivery the next day for just $4.99.
The order, however, can only be items totaling up to 45 pounds in weight, roughly enough to fill a standard shopping cart.
"Guests need to keep daily essentials stocked, but finding time to buy them is tough - and it can be even more of a challenge when you're talking about large, bulky items," said Dawn Block, Target SVP of digital. "If we can help our busy guests check off their shopping lists quickly and more easily, that's more time they can spend with their families."
Shares of Target were sinking nearly 1.5% in midday trading on Thursday.
