Can you imagine undergarments weighing 14 pounds and featuring 275,000 pieces of crystal hardware? Probably not.
But if you're supermodel Elsa Hosk, you might be able to. Hosk sauntered down the runway at the L Brands Inc.-owned (LB) - Get Report Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Monday in Shanghai wearing an exclusive design from crystal maison Swarovski.
The annual jaw-dropping fashion show was the 15th that Swarovski joined in on, according to a company statement. This year, Swarovski created a bespoke look for Hosk that was made with 275,000 crystals, 200 yards of woven fabric and 14-pound VS Angel wings made of pave crystals. Over 29 crystal effects and colors were used for the outfit, which was designed by Paris-based couturier Serkan Cura.
"It's all about sparkle, shine and fantasy and that is what Swarovski brings to the show," said VS brand communications and events VP Monica Mitro. "Especially this year's look, it's a completely over-the-top wing and Elsa just brings it to life."
Over 1 million Swarovski crystals were used on a total of 22 other Victoria's Secret looks at the show on everything from footwear to lingerie. The cut crystal and fashion jewelry brand graced the frames of supermodels including Karlie Kloss, Devon Windsor, Alessandra Ambrosio and Stella Maxwell.
The Victoria's Secret fashion show, long lauded as an iconic display of fashion, art and lingerie, was filmed in Shanghai for the first time. It will air on CBS Corp.-owned (CBS) - Get Report CBS Networks on Nov. 28 at 10 p.m. ET.
