The coffee giant unveiled its new 'Mercato' lunch menu on Wednesday at its annual shareholders meeting, which will feature grab and go salads and healthier sandwiches. The new menu will first arrive at 100 stores in Chicago on April 11.
Starbucks disclosed a plan to double sales of food by 2021 to almost $5 billion at its bi-annual meeting in December. So, expect more fresh food announcements (such as a foray into soups this spring) from Starbucks in the years ahead.
The company also took the wraps off voice ordering via Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report Alexa with Ford (F) - Get Report cars equipped with the new SYNC 3 info-tainment system. Alexa is on track to be integrated into Ford's SYNC 3 later this year. Starbucks isn't the first restaurant to bring food ordering inside the car.
