Solar Winners: SunPower
NEW YORK (
) -- Shares of U.S. solar power company
SunPower
undefined
are experiencing one of their best trading runs of 2010 on Thursday, up more than 8% at midday, with daily trading volume already reached by the midday mark.
SunPower announced on Thursday morning a 10 megawatt solar project in Delaware, not the type of news on its own to move shares up by close to a double-digit percentage gain. However, SunPower shares remain down more than 40% year-to-date.
Other solar stocks have rallied considerably in recent months, but SunPower couldn't hold gains from August. SunPower shares rallied above the $13 mark on August 9, but didn't return to that share value until Thursday's trading.
Other solar stocks, by contrast, like China's
JA Solar
(JASO)
, have been continually hitting new 52-week highs in recent trading sessions.
