Sears Sees Earnings Beat as Sales Rise - TheStreet

said domestic same-store sales in December rose 0.4% and for the quarter ending Jan. 30 it expects adjusted earnings of $385 million to $465 million, or $3.36 to $4.06 a share.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expect the retailer to post fourth-quarter earnings of $2.65 a share. Sears earned $190 million, or $1.55 a share, in the year-earlier quarter.

Sears said Thursday that Kmart same-store sales in December rose 5.3%, but Sears domestic store sales declined 4.3%, reflecting reduced sales of higher ticket hardline items, partially offset by increases tools and automotives.
