SDL said it will supply the Sturbridge, Mass.-based IPG with the laser pumps through Dec.31, 2002 and expects to generate total revenues of $66.7 million over the period.
IPG will use the pumps in fiber lasers and various optical amplifier products used in fiber optic communication systems, terrestrial wireless optical networks and free-space communications. They also will be used in a new generation of low-cost metro amplifiers in emerging metro access networks.
