opened a new factory in Guadalajara, Mexico on Tuesday, in a move to expand into a lower-costs region.
The 347,000-square-foot enclosure facility boosts Sanmina's enclosure manufacturing capacity to more than 500,000 square feet, making it the largest operation of its kind in North America.
"The enclosure expansion allows us to meet the growing needs of our customers who want to manufacture their products in this strategic region," Hossein Saadat, Sanmina executive vice president of enclosure systems, said in a statement.
Saadat said that customers will benefit from lower-cost manufacturing and shortened lead times, in addition to a range of product development and distribution services.
After the regular trading day, Sanmina shares were up 1.8%, or 8 cents, to $4.56.
