NEW YORK (
Las Vegas Sands
said it plans to open the first phase of its $5.5 billion Marina Bay Sands development in Singapore on April 27.
The casino originally was scheduled to open in December, and then in February. But the opening was delayed because of heavy rains and the bankruptcy of some of the project's sub-contractors.
Las Vegas Sands said 963 hotel rooms, part of the shopping mall and convention center, certain celebrity chef restaurants and the casino are to open in April.
The development's second phase, expected to open June 23, will include Sands SkyPark, an events plaza and more retail shops.
