said same-store sales in January climbed 12.3% from the year-ago period, an increase that was aided by higher pharmacy sales for the month.
The Camp Hill, Pa., retail drugstore chain said total drugstore sales for the four weeks ended Jan. 27 rose 10.5% to $1.09 billion from $981.5 million last year. Prescription revenue made up 62.5% of drugstore sales. Pharmacy same-store sales rose 12.7% for the month.
Shares of Rite Aid recently rose 33 cents, or 8.1%, to $4.43 in trading on the
New York Stock Exchange
