Extraction Oil & Gas

Range Resources (RRC - Get Report) shares were higher on Monday after the oil-and-gas producer was upgraded to buy from neutral at MKM Partners.

The stock finished up 10% at $4.53. Last October, the stock traded as high as $18.60.

Analyst John Gerdes kept his price target at $6.

Based on Friday's closing price of $4.10, the company's dividend of 2 cents a share was yielding 1.95% annually.

Gerdes said his production estimates for Range Resources are slightly above the company's guidance for the third quarter and slightly below for the full year.

The Fort Worth, Texas, company focuses on Appalachia and Louisiana. In particular, the company has substantial natural gas operations in the Marcellus Shale formation in Pennsylvania and in nearby formations.
