Ad holding company

Publicis Groupe

saw 4% organic revenue growth last quarter on strong North American and Asian performances in the advertising sector.

Consolidated revenue at the Paris-based company, whose agencies include Leo Burnett, Publicis and Saatchi & Saatchi, rose to $1.14 billion for the first quarter despite patchy European advertising markets.

Publicis Groupe Chairman Maurice Levy said, "The numbers achieved in the first quarter combined with record levels of new business make me confident about the prospects for group performance over 2005 as a whole." The company picked up $1.5 billion in new business during the period.

Reported revenue showed a rise of 2.4% from the first quarter of 2004 despite the negative impact of exchange rates.

The stock was unchanged at $29.20 Tuesday.
