posted a rise in first-quarter earnings after the bell Wednesday, matching analysts' expectations, on a 27% jump in sales.
The company said earnings rose to $5.36 million, or 11 cents a share, from $4.41 million, or 9 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue was $128.1 million, up from the prior year's $100.7 million. Same-store sales rose 4% in the quarter.
Shares of Hot Topic were adding 38 cents, or 1.9%, to $19.94 in after-hours trading after slumping 74 cents, or 3.7%, to $19.56 in the regular session.
The City of Industry, Calif.-based company had 581 total stores at the end of the quarter, up from 468 a year ago.
