TheStreet.com, a leading Web-based provider of financial news and commentary, announced today the appointment of Thomas J. Clarke, Jr. to the new position of President and Chief Operating Officer. Clarke will be responsible for overseeing company operations on a day-to-day basis, including editorial, marketing, technology, and sales. He will report directly to Kevin W. English, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TheStreet.com.

Prior to joining TheStreet.com, Clarke served as Chief Executive Officer of Thomson Financial Investor Relations (formerly Technimetrics, Inc.), a full-service investor relations firm with over 325 employees and estimated annual revenues of $75 million. As CEO of Technimetrics, Clarke oversaw the sale of the company from Knight-Ridder to The Thomson Corporation in 1998, after significantly enhancing the value of the company. He also led the company's transition from database management to investor relations consulting. Clarke joined Technimetrics in 1984 as Manager of Client Services. Clarke held positions with companies including McAuto Systems Group and Media Records before joining Technimetrics.
