Oshkosh Truck Wins $1 Million Defense Contract

The company will develop unmanned ground vehicles for a Pentagon robotics competition.

Oshkosh Truck (OSK) - Get Report said Wednesday it received a $1 million contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to further develop unmanned ground vehicle technology in preparation for the Urban Challenge robotic competition.

The technology development award granted by the Department of Defense's DARPA will provide additional funds to support technology development.

Oshkosh Truck has partnered with Teledyne Scientific, the University of Parma in Italy, Auburn University in Alabama and Ibeo Automobile Sensor GmbH to develop the capabilities required to operate in an urban environment, the company added.

Shares of Oshkosh Truck closed up $1.11, or 2.1%, to $53.28 Wednesday.
