Oprah Network Announces Lineup
NEW YORK (
) -- The Oprah Winfrey Network, or OWN, has
announced the schedule for its January 1 launch
.
OWN is a joint venture between
Harpo
and
Discovery Communications
(DISCA) - Get Report
and will debut on January 1 in approximately 80 million homes on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel.
The network will feature shows hosted by Suze Orman, Dr. Oz, and Dr. Phil, as well as Cristina Ferrare, Gayle King, Peter Walsh, Dr. Laura Berman and Lisa Ling.
"During our launch weekend, the audience will see a little of everything OWN has to offer," OWN CEO Christina Norman said. "Oprah as they've never seen her in

, expert advice from Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil and Suze Orman to get their year started right on
Ask Oprah's All-Stars
, and sneak peeks at the kinds of shows we believe really fulfill our mission to be entertaining and inspiring."
OWN's launch programming will include original series and specials, such as the four-part primetime special
Ask Oprah's All-Stars
with Suze Orman, Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz.
The channel will also feature programming such as
Cristina's Big Bowl of Love
with Cristina Ferrare,
The Gayle King Show
,

, and

.
Reports speculate that high expectations for the network could magnify any of its failures.
"I know that as I start out on this next chapter, there are going to be some mistakes," Winfrey said at a conference last week. "I know nothing new is perfect, but I'm not scared."
Winfrey is currently in her 25th and final season of her daytime TV talk show,
The Oprah Winfrey Show
. She also has her own show on Sirius XM satellite radio,
The Oprah Winfrey Show, on Oprah Radio
.
Discovery is scheduled to release its third quarter financial report on Nov. 2.
