New York Stock Exchange
, announced late Monday that Duncan Niederauer will be the new president and co-chief operating officer, effective April 9.
Niederauer currently serves as managing director of
Goldman Sachs Group
and will be responsible for U.S. cash equities operations.
NYSE said that Gerald Putnam, current president and co-COO will become vice chairman with responsibility for technology, product development and options.
Catherine Kinney will continue to serve as president and co-COO along with Niederauer and will oversee NYSE's global listings business.
NYSE Group Chief Executive Officer John Thain called Duncan an "innovator and a highly experienced, skilled professional whose extensive knowledge of U.S. and international financial markets will greatly serve NYSE Group and our constituents."
Shares of NYSE closed the regular session off $1.34 to $90.01. After hours, shares gained 29 cents.
