Sports-apparel maker Nike (NKE) - Get Report is cutting ties with New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown amid on- and off-the field issues with the All-Pro NFL player.

A spokesperson for Nike told the Boston Globe that "Antonio Brown is not a Nike athlete."

It has been a tumultuous year for Brown, who forced his way out of the Pittsburgh Steelers organization with a trade demand.

After being traded to the Oakland Raiders, Brown on his request was released after reportedly nearly getting into a physical altercation with his general manager.

Brown was then picked up by the Patriots. And Britney Taylor, Brown's former personal trainer, has accused him of sexual assault in multiple incidents from June 2017 through May 20.

She did not file criminal charges but has brought a civil lawsuit against the player, reportedly for $2 million.

Brown has denied Taylor's accusations and is on track to play for the Patriots this coming Sunday.

Nike shares are down 0.3% Thursday at $87.85.
