News Corp.

(NWSA) - Get Report

and

Apple

(AAPL) - Get Report

executives are expected to announce the launch of

The Daily

, a news service for the iPad, at an event in New York City on Feb. 2.

News Corp.

CEO Rupert Murdoch was expected to take the stage

with

Apple

(AAPL) - Get Report

CEO Steve Jobs at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art on Jan. 19 to unveil the digital publication.

The

release was delayed a few weeks

so executives could work out some "technical details" regarding the subscription pay model, the

Associated Press

reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

The Daily

is expected to be a $1 a week digital publication subscription product for the iPad that will feature general news, sports, arts and opinion sections. Murdoch has reportedly hired over 100 journalists to staff the publication.

In an interview in November, Murdoch told the

Australian Financial Review

that there will not be a print edition of

The Daily

.

The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. ET next Wednesday at New York City's Guggenheim Museum. It will also feature an appearance from Apple vice president of Internet services Eddy Cue.
