A day before, the Nikkei gained 0.8% to close at 17292.39, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng climbed 1.61% to 19442.42 aided by shares of

On Tuesday, Singapore's Straits Times Index rose 0.18% to 3,188.45, and South Korea's Kospi Index dropped 0.46% to 1434.66.

Taiwan's Taiex was up 35.55, or 0.47%.
