Last year's fall event saw Microsoft announce the launch of the Surface Pro 6 laptop/tablet hybrid, its Surface Laptop 2 notebook, its Surface Studio 2 desktop computer and the Surface headphones.
Microsoft has been pivoting toward software and services for years while also maintaining its hardware business. In the fourth quarter, the company generated $11.28 billion from its More Personal computing segment, topping FactSet's $10.99 billion estimates.
Microsoft shares have surged in 2019, jumping 35% year to date. The stock was down 0.3% Tuesday to $135.05.
