Coincidence? Or a sign of something massive to come?
This week, Walmart (WMT) announced that it would team up with Microsoft (MSFT) to use the company's cloud services. The five-year agreement will bring Walmart use of Azure and Microsoft 365 company-wide. New projects will also be worked on in the areas of machine learning, artificial intelligence and data platforms.
Microsoft will have employees embedded in Walmart offices. In short, Amazon (AMZN) the retailer and Amazon the cloud service provider has been put on notice.
The warm and fuzzy relationship between titans Walmart and Microsoft conjured up memories of Jim Cramer's 2017 call that the two should just merge to "pulverize" Amazon.
