An arbitration panel has found in favor of
in a patent case in which it had been sued by
Johnson & Johnson
and J&J's Cordis medical-device division.
J&J and its unit alleged that the Medtronic Driver stent and several other products infringed certain Cordis patents. The arbitration panel issued a nonappealable decision on Feb. 20 and the award became final on March 22, Medtronic said.
Separately, a stay has been lifted in a patent infringement lawsuit Medtronic had filed against J&J and Cordis. In that case, Medtronic is alleging that the Cordis Cypher stent is infringing its Fitzmaurice catheter-design patents.
The case had been on stay pending the outcome of the arbitration panel's decision. The stay was lifted March 2, and a trial will be scheduled.
Shares of Medtronic were down 24 cents at $53.59, and J&J was lower by 26 cents at $60.74.
